PROFILE: Keon Lattimore is a big, powerful running back, at the University of Maryland, who has the ability to elude defenders and flash bursts of quickness ... joins Lance Ball to form one of the top tailback duos in the country ... a candidate for all-league honors this fall ... good combination of size, speed and quickness ... also a strong blocker ... needs 61 rushing yards to reach 1,000 in his career and 369 to break into the top 20 on the Terps career list ... missed most of spring ball with a back injury, but expected to be ready for fall camp.

HIGH SCHOOL: A three-year starter who played wide receiver and spent some time at defensive back ... was hampered his senior season by an ankle injury, but caught 28 passes for 346 yards and four touchdowns in seven games ... also rushed for 643 yards and 11 TDs, while returning two kickoffs for scores ... top game of 2002 came against Gilman when he scored five TDs (four rushing, one kickoff return), posted 121 yards rushing and 117 receiving ... had a strong junior season, scoring 23 touchdowns (nine rush, nine pass, five returns) ... ran for 1,294 yards and had 581 receiving yards as a junior ... a first team all-state selection (Associated Press) as a senior and second team as a junior ... first team All-Metro by the Baltimore Sun both years ... the sixth-rated player in the Mid-Atlantic region by SuperPrep ... rated the fifth-best receiver in the East by The Sporting News ... ranked the 20th-best wide receiver in the country by ESPN.com's Tom Lemming ... also ran track and was his basketball team's starting forward ... also recruited by Miami, NC State and Virginia ... coached by Mike Working.
